Closing Thoughts

by The Blog Team on January 27, 2009

We hope everybody is rested after a great conference.  More importantly, we hope you had the chance to see how significant it is that we as an industry stay connected.

For the first year of the tourism conference blog we want to thank every one of you who read and became a part of the blog.

We’ll be ending our regular updated posts in the very near future, but in the meantime we want to get your feedback.

  • What did you like?
  • What would you like to see more of?
  • What would you like to see less of?
  • Any suggestions on usability?
  • Would you download and/or listen to a podcast?
  • Would you consider being a guest blogger?

We will take all of these suggestions as we get ready for year two of the Talkin’ Tourism Blog.  Look for us to start up again for our 2010 conference next year.

In the mean time, set your RSS feeder so you won’t miss us when we start back up. You can do this by clicking “Subscribe.” For instructions on navigating an RSS feed, read here. If you liked what you saw this year, send the link to a friend in the tourism industry.

Thanks again on behalf of the entire blogging team and we’ll see you next year!

What did you like?
Videos were good…but a little rehearsed.
Summary of events was good.
What would you like to see more of?
More DIY (do it yourself) tips on how to improve your marketing
More buzz worthy stuff. How bout a live webcam in the lobby!
More internet access. I was locked out of internet access more times
than not due to overloaded system.
More ways for it to show social aspects… throughout the day. Post ‘at the scene pictures’ or video… ‘just in from the lobby’
Live Twitter feeds from the sessions? Have a little personality
What would you like to see less of?
Hmmm… just want more :)
Any suggestions on usability?
Maybe a booth out in the Lobby Highlighting the blogg and acess to it… encouraging comments from the attendees
Would you download and/or listen to a podcast?
Depends on the podcast. A HUGE improvement at the conference would be access to audio recordings of seminars. This is standard at other conferences I’ve been at. Seminar recordings are made available to purchase for conference attendees. Should be able to contract it out.
Not sure if the dept. would have interesting podcast content- recaps would not be interesting.
Would you consider being a guest blogger?
Yes, I think it’s healthy to invite guest bloggers. Participation is key to getting industry folks involved or to even really care.
You should also incorporate some slideshow feeds from a flickr account or something that creates a dynamic presence.

I’m glad to see the effort, glad I monopolized the comments! haha.
Go SD Team. I’ll keep an eye on you. If you want to keep an eye on me, follow me on twitter ‘amerikenjones’
